The area boasts some of the tallest trees in Scotland, living up to its name of Big Tree Country. These vast woodlands nurture a wealth of wildlife from fungi and lichens to butterflies and rare woodland birds. Clearly marked paths allow you to wander through the trees, connecting with the nature that surrounds you.

The European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) project supported the creation of a wildlife leaflet designed to show visitors the best places to go and see the spectacular wildlife of Perthshire and Angus.

A leaflet giving details of "Where to see Red Squirrels in Perthshire" is available for guests on arrival at Ridgeway Bed and Breakfast. There is also a fantastic source of information on VisitScotland Perthshire - Wildlife pages - where you can find helpful tips on wildlife watching, information on classic wildlife species as well as special places to see wildlife.

Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre is set in 100 acres of beautiful Perthshire hills just on the outskirts of Comrie.  The wildlife centre is home to a variety of different animals and birds.  Enjoy a bite to eat and some home baking at their Pine Lodge Coffee Shop.  For further information about the many different animals and birds you can see at the centre as well as the many activities available to suit all ages from the play barn and flying fox to paintball, fly fishing ponds and bushcraft, please visit www.auchingarrich.co.uk or phone 01764 679469.
